When I got the plant, there was a small green tomato. This morning, there are three.
My housemates have a 12 x 9 foot raised bed at the side of the house.
With a bit of discussion, they let me take control over it as long as I provide lots of yummy tomatoes.
The lower left is my 4 different kinds of tomatoes, upper left is my herb garden with basil, rosemary and thyme planted (so far).
Upper right is my blackberry plant (per the housemates request as well) and strawberries and the lower right is my lavender.
Yes, that is a tire in the center! I wanted something quirky and different for my center stepping stone so I painted a tire a vibrant blue and will be filling it in with river rock. I’ll be getting 4 more stepping pavers to cut the bed up into quadrants so when tending the garden, I don’t have to disturb the soil.
I am so excited for this summer!
Are you doing a garden this year?
I totally cheated. I’ve been wanting a new skirt for some time now and while I have several in various states of completion, I wanted one *now*. While I was in JoAnn’s this evening, I saw the usual display of fabrics that have the smocking along the top. Those that just need a single back seam and voila, you have a strapless tube top sundress.
They also had shorter versions, obviously for skirts. Most of the patterns were kind of meh until I saw this one. I fell in love, had to have it! Came home and immediately sewed up the back. It’s so cute! It’s my first short skirt (it comes to my knees) and I’ll be wearing it out on a date this weekend. I’m both incredibly excited and insanely nervous!
But I have a cute spring/summer skirt! Yay!
With my SCA hobby, you never really know when the urge to fancy up at an event will strike and so one must always have their shinies with them, especially on the week long trips in other states.
Up until recently, I was able to throw my stuff into a box and call it a day. However, I have been on a bit of spending free in order to make my dresses more blinged out so after looking at what my fellow SCAers were using, I picked up the Plano Angled Tackle System off of Amazon and put it to use.
And voila! A new jewelry box is born. I’m very pleased with it, especially now that I don’t have to spend the first 10 mins of getting ready solely on detangling my necklaces and looking for the errant earring.
And here is a pic of me in my awesome red dress with one of the new House of Avalon necklaces as well as the circlet and veil.
And the flat cap with the poof of feathers!
