Monthly Archives: March 2014

The last week has been CRAZY! And as such, I have not worked at all on my leather quiver.

Lazy blogger is lazy!

However!  It is on my schedule this week so hopefully I should have some assembly pics to show next week!

Baked Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

It had been a really long day, I still needed to cook dinner and I will feeling incredibly uncreative. I was leaning towards just making sandwiches for Kress and I. That would be filling and I could call it a day.

On a lark, I pulled up Pinterest and looked through my Poultry section. (I have my Pinterest ridiculously organized. I may have a problem) I saw a picture that looked incredibly yummy and once I saw the ingredients, I realized not only would it be tasty, it would take just as much time to make as sandwiches!

The Baked Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken is from Day Dream Kitchens, which looks to be a collaborated effort of food bloggers.

Not only was this an incredibly easy, it was SO tasty! So much so, Kress has asked that it be on the regular menu rotation. Would love to hear your thoughts if you give it a try! 🙂

  • 4 boneless & skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 tbsps brown sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tsps olive oil

  • Set the oven to 500 degrees.
  • Grease pan.
  • Fry garlic with oil until it becomes soft.
  • Stir in brown sugar
  • Put the chicken in a dish for baking.
  • Pour the garlic/brown sugar mix on the chicken.
  • Combine salt and/or pepper as you like.
  • Bake without cover for approx 20 mins.

Steve Madden’s DESIRBLE

“Desirble” is right! Holy cow, this is a gorgeous shoe! A t-strap sandal with peep toe and dual buckle detail at ankle with back zip closure with a 5.5″ heel with a 4″ platform. Love! Not sure I could actually walk in them but I may have to go give them a test drive to see! 😀

I made myself a promise a long time ago. I was on the eve of my weight loss surgery and I promised myself that once I broke the 200 pounds mark (I was over 400 then), I would buy myself a pair of Steve Madden shoes.

I am within 30 pounds of that goal today. I am slightly plateaued but that’s mostly because I have been lazy the past few months.

Time to get my butt of the couch! 😀

Dropkick Murphy Concert – Stubbs Austin, Tx

On March 1st, Dropkick Murphys came through Austin. I was so excited! They were one of Kress and mine’s first dates since he had never heard of them and they are one of my all time favorite bands. They are an American Celtic punk band out of Massachusetts and I try to catch them any time they are in the area. A taste of home, if you will.

A bit of a grainy pic but the two of us, waiting for the night to begin!

It was an awesome way to kick off the month of March! If you are looking to add a new band to your rotation, check them out. I highly recommend them. 🙂

Leather Quiver in Progress

One of the activities I do within the SCA is combat archery.

Up until recently, I have been borrowing a bow however, last week, I managed to get one of my very own!

I got to use her in a couple of battles and wow, she shoots like a dream! So now I have to make my own quiver for my bolts. I was using a canvas bag that crossed across my torso that stored the bolts vertically. However, I much prefer my bolts to be laying horizontally, less likely they will get tangled when trying to take one out.

Picked up a double shoulder hide at Tandy Leather as well as some ox blood leather dye.

This is the first application of dye, waiting to dry before adding the second application. I *love* the color! So can’t wait to start assembling it!

Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps by Skinnytaste

I *love* buffalo chicken wings. They are probably one of my largest weaknesses when it comes to food. However, Skinny Taste has a recipe that is not only delicious, but also easy to make and so much healthier than a basket of fried goodness!

Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps is a hands down winner and a dish I had incorporated into my monthly rotation. It’s been awhile since I made it, the move sort of disrupted a lot of my meal planning but now that we are no longer looking to move in the next couple of months, I think it is time to reintroduce this tasty little dish!

If you try it, I would love to hear your thoughts! 🙂
