Crafty Monday – Fur Wreath!

I love wreaths. They just add a little something to Christmas decor that makes me smile.

I wanted something different this year and it had been quite some time since I made my own. Nothing on Pinterest was really capturing my attention and most of the ones in stores were way too glittery for my tastes. So I started playing in my fabric stash to see what I could find!

Remember this dress from last year and my overcoming the fear of working with fur?

Well guess what I came across?

Yep, the rest of that fur and an idea hit me! A fur wreath!  That would be so cool!  So off to JoAnn’s I go to pick up a few times and look for more inspiration.

Wreath Inspiration Found!

Once I got everything home, I fell on it like a mad woman!  Fur and glue *everywhere*! Lots of yelling too since hot glue is hot!
Worked that one out all by my lonesome!

A couple hours later and Voila!

My new wreath.  🙂  I love it!

Crafty Monday – DIY Laundry Soap

Have you really paid attention to the cost of laundry soap?  I have to be honest, I haven’t been. It was something we needed, so I bought it.

That is until a few weeks back when we ran out before the budget replenished. With all the Christmas spending, money is running a little tighter than normal so I had to check prices. Wow! I was blown away!

Brittany over at Pretty Handy Girl  saved my pocket book! She had just posted an article on how to do your own laundry detergent back in October so off I went!

It really is just that simple. The soap comes out pretty watery than what I am used to but I noticed a remarkable difference in my towels in just the first washing. There were SO much fluffier and softer to the touch.

The whole thing cost me maybe $10 but I had the Borax already so if you go this route, it may be a tad higher.

I’m still looking for a cute bucket to put mine in but since the laundry room will be getting a make over here sometime soon, I am waiting to see what I finally decide on before getting anything to go into it.

If you have used this or make this, I would love to hear your experiences!

Leather Quiver Complete!

It’s done!

This is my very first leather working project so it’s far from perfect but I did it! I love it and it fits right where it needs to. So happy!

The hardest part was all the stitching. Well, punching the holes for all the stitching as well as the actual stitching.

But once I got it done, it looked so nice! I used waxed thread since it would wear better. It was a bit of pain to work with but once I got the hang of it, it went y pretty quick.

And most importantly, my bolts fit!

Can’t wait to take it out!  😀

Tea Tray – From Trash to Posh!

I have had this old wooden tea tray for some time. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of it before I painted it eons ago. I think I had some glamorous idea on making it the jewelry tray to end all jewelry trays.

Instead, this happened.

Not very glamorous, right? I think it lived like this for at least a couple years before I finally got sick of it over the holiday break and decided it was time to do something about it. But what? It took me a bit of thinking to finally decide what I wanted.

I realized it would sure be nice to have a tray to carry all my tea and biscuits in the morning from the kitchen to my office instead of having to make two trips or risk a serious burn trying to balance everything. I had to spruce this up though, a black tea tray just would not do but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money.

Off to JoAnn’s to find inspiration.

I was thinking of finding some nice scrap booking paper to modge podge down and call it a day but the more I looked at the paper, I realized I change my mind on decor way too often to commit to something like that! I wanted versatility. I wanted something to look sophisticated as well as wacky and fun!

Enter stiffened felt!

They were a couple dollars a piece but I scored them on 75% discount so I paid less than $2 for all 3. I just cut them down and pop them in!

I just leave the extras in the tray so they all stay together and just switch them around when I want! Easy peasy!

And it works awesome as a tea tray!  Love it!

New Scarf!

I was bored last night so I searched through Ravelry to find something quick and easy to fiddle with that was scarf like. After a couple of clicks, I found this wonderful pattern so off to Joann‘s to pick up some yarn!

Red Heart Boutique Swerve Barbados Yarn

Once I got home, from start to finish, the whole thing took maybe 10 mins. It was really that quick!

And voila, I have a very cute scarf that is going to be colorful and very warm come winter!
